Types of AGVs

Lurking AGV
The Lurking AGV uses magnetic navigation for automatic forward and reverse movement. It features multiple safety protections, including infrared obstacle detection, mechanical anti-collision design, and an emergency stop button to prevent collisions between multiple AGVs and with the external environment.

Towing AGV
Towing AGVs can transport several trolleys at the same time, reducing the number of transportations needed and increasing productivity. AMR ABB Robotics’s range offers high operational availability thanks to their fast-charging technology and advanced lithium battery.

Mouse AGV
The industrial mouse agv is a bidirectional underride towing AGV with magnetic navigation. It maneuvers under material carts, automatically couples/uncouples via tow hitches, and transports loads forward/reverse. With a 1500kg payload capacity, it adapts to diverse factory logistics needs.

Lifting AGV 1000kg

Lurking AGV 2000kg

Lifting AGV
Lifting AGV can move to the bottom side of material vehicle, lift up the material vehicle and move to destination. With compact design, the robot AGV can work in narrow spaces, and do challenging jobs like turning a corner or spin-around.

Roller AGV
Roller conveyor agv is a custom-built AGV for SMT production lines. Designed for 3C industry SMT operations, it automates transport and loading/unloading of precision materials like PCB boards, trays, and carriers. Using SLAM or QR code navigation, it achieves ±5mm precision docking with SMT equipment.

Forklift AGV
A Forklift AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) is an AGV used to automate the work done by a forklift and driver. The forklift AGV uses its forks to pick up the pallet or whatever object it is handling and then navigates to the correct position within the facilities to unload.

Features of AGVs

Better utilisation of people
Eliminate or reduce the need for your staff to spend time moving materials. AGV solutions make movement of equipment and materials more efficient and allow your people to spend more time doing tasks of greater value-add.

Allows precise, accurate movement
AGV solutions are ideal when working in tight spaces, or when moving a load through areas with minimal clearance.

Repeatability
AGV's deliver a repeated movement and repeated precision, which matters in a busy manufacturing environment.

Eliminate human error
AGV material handling equipment eliminates this risk by taking control away from a human operator. Safety sensors ensure a programmed response to any detected risk, stopping movement until a hazard has been cleared or moved away.

Maximise safety
AGV electric tugs can be programmed to take action such as reducing speed in certain locations when visibility is reduced, or when the surface becomes wet and traction is impacted.

Better efficiency
An AGV will travel to its destination at a set speed, faster than if the movement was conducted manually, or by pedestrian operated equipment by a person who could be delayed or distracted.

Cost & redundancy vs fixed automation systems
AGV electric tugs are more cost-effective than fixed automation systems.
They are more flexible in terms of being able to carry out a wider range of tasks. Additionally, they are more redundant as they can easily be swapped out to minimise any disruption caused through faults.

Maximising investment ROI
AGV electric tugs can be switched to manual operation, so if the need arises, the machine can be taken off its typical tasks and utilised to move any wheeled load within its weight capability.

24/7 operation
AGV electric tugs that are battery-based offer 24/7 operation. The only consideration is battery charging and replacement (if using multiple batteries).
Electric tugs can be supplied with spare batteries, which can be stored and charged whilst the machine is in operation. This battery can then be swapped out in between tasks for minimal downtime.

Consistent & reliable
Not only are AGV's consistent in their function, but they also have relatively consistent costs compared to manual labour and are affordable to maintain. Electric tugs are made to the highest standards, so are reliable solutions that deliver day after day.

Application Industries of AGVs

Automotive Industry

In a leading automotive manufacturing plant, AGVs were deployed to transport raw materials and finished products between different production points.

E-commerce Fulfillment Center

A major e-commerce company integrated AGVs into their fulfillment center to streamline order fulfillment processes. The AGVs were designed to pick items from shelves and transport them to packing stations, increasing order accuracy and reducing fulfillment time.

Pharmaceutical Warehouse

In a pharmaceutical warehouse, AGVs were used to transport medications and medical supplies between storage areas and shipping docks. The implementation of AGVs resulted in improved inventory management, reduced product damage, and enhanced workplace safety.

Maintenance Requirements of AGVs

For optimal agv maintenance, a series of processes are carried out to analyze the condition of certain components that make up the guided automation vehicles.

The first thing that is analyzed is the control panel or the guidance system. This type of maintenance is done with the objective that the agv reacts correctly to the orders that are made regardless of the distance that this is located from the control panel.

The engines and propulsion systems are necessary during this agv maintenance since they are why the vehicle can move without any altercation. In other words, the engine will give power to the AGV so that it can transport the goods quickly and efficiently.

The batteries and their power supply are important during agv maintenance, as good maintenance will allow the vehicles to continue to have the ability to transport themselves to their power sources autonomously.

As an important point, the wheels and tires of the AGVs should be checked. This is part of the routine maintenance; even the organization's own technicians can perform this type of maintenance and change the tire if necessary.

To finalize this process of agv maintenance, it will be necessary to revise the fundamental sensors for it to move. These sensors also allow it to communicate with the other AGVs so that there is no accident, such as a collision between these vehicles.
